CéU proved to one of the more internationally appealing singers to break out of Brazil around the time of her 2005 debut, ultimately winning a Latin Grammy nomination for Best New Artist and garnering interest for herself in Europe and North America. Her singing is what earned her acclaim, yet her music is novel as well, a fusion of samba, reggae, and electronica, with touches of jazz and soul.

This Soundtrack was one of the first records that i ever listened in my life, or at least the first that i paid attention. Like the movie, like the music, why not?

For those who appreciate good and old NYC Hip Hop, Big L still a GREAT alternative. The album showcases L as a master of the lyrical stickup undressing his competition with kinetic metaphors and a brash comedic repertoire. The lead track, "Put It On" produced by Kid Capri, is a party cut with a criminal attitude. "M.V.P." snatches a brief segment from DeBarge's "Stay With Me" (later aggrandized on the Notorious B.I.G.'s popular remix of "One More Chance"). "Da Graveyard" features a young Cam'ron (here Killa Kam) and most notably a superb verse from a pre-Jigga Jay-Z (at the outset of his solo career). With better production and marketing, Big L might have found himself with a platinum album but instead he settled for platinum respect. This album captures the dynamic potential of a street legend, a legend who would later be gunned down in his prime. By the Way, i took the liberty of put 3 more L's songs on the folder. Mvp (video version), Mvp (cookin Soul Remix) and Flamboyant, from his II album but in a Cookin Soul vibe again.

The follow-up to the heavily acclaimed Jazzmatazz, Vol. 1. This album might not have quite as much jazz-rap power as the first volume did, but it's still quite good. Some of the big guns of jazz found their way into the album, including Branford Marsalis, Freddie Hubbard, Ramsey Lewis, and Kenny Garrett. Underground rapper Kool Keith also makes an appearance, as are Chaka Khan and Me'Shell N'Degeocello; Jamiroquai helps out in another. In some ways, the personnel on this album may be slightly superior to the first outing, but the music also seems a tiny bit blander. Still, what makes the Jazzmatazz albums special is the live synthesis of jazz and rap. With Guru's vocals over the top of live jazz performers (as opposed the usual samples), interplay is facilitated between the two, and thus a whole new dimension is added to the fusion. For someone interested in jazz-rap in general, the first album is a higher priority (as would be Us3's albums, with extensive Blue Note sampling), but this album is still high on the list.

Apart from their 2001 installment in Universal's ongoing 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection series, Public Enemy had not been given a career compilation prior to 2005's Power to the People and the Beats: Public Enemy's Greatest Hits. The 2001 comp overlooked such major cuts as "Rebel Without a Pause" and "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos," plus it was sequenced in a non-chronological order. Power to the People rights those two wrongs by including all of PE's major songs from 1987-1998 -- which doesn't mean it's all their best music, of course -- presented in a chronological fashion, beginning with "You're Gonna Get Yours" and ending with "He Got Game." As such, it provides not only a useful summary of their groundbreaking work, it's also a bracing, exciting listen in its own right. Of course, each individual Public Enemy release recorded during these ten years is worth hearing -- especially 1988's It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back and 1990's Fear of a Black Planet, which are two of the great works of art of the 20th century -- but for those who want a quick introduction to the greatest hip-hop group of all time, this fits the bill perfectly

Known for his mainstream hit single "Kingston Town", Italian born Reggae Singer / Songwriter / Producer Alborosie is fast becoming the next big reggae superstar out of Jamaica. He lives in Jamaica since 2001 and beside singing he plays guitar, piano, bass and drums. His vocals remind me Kymani Marley but with a different accent, an italian accent. Aside from reinventing the vintage rock steady sound as an artist Alborosie has been testing the mainstream market as a producer. He has worked with many successful international acts like Mario, Angie Stone, Les Nubians, Jimmy Cozier and Manu Chao while locally Sizzla, Wayne Marshall, Beenie Man and Voice Mail have all shared in his creative vision.
Eddie Kendricks, ex The Temptations, mostra nessa coletânea toda a vibração de suas canções. Bem soul/blaxploitation, o cara é um p*** vocalista, manjava tudo.
If your bussiness is good old and Soul music, download this joint now!!!! Good compilation presenting the former Temptations singer, Eddie Kendricks. Peace out

Pianos elegantes, efeitos e sinths bacanas e os tão agradáveis "bitz ol'school in a jazzie vibe". Baixa ae, vale!!!!
The production skills of Eric Lau are powered by his love of manipulating sound in a soulful manner. Influenced by artists like Jay Dee, Pete Rock, D'angelo, ?uestlove, James Poyser, Donald Byrd, Roy Ayers, and Shuggie Otis, he seeks to walk in thier path of genre-busting, quality soul releases while adding a twist of his own. Using a blend of samples and instrumentation, his music already spans a variety of different genres and his collaborations with an eclectic collective of soul singers, musicians, dj's, rappers and producers with the same mind set will help push the envelope further. Production credits include Dudley Perkins, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Lupe Fiasco, Guilty Simpson, Wildchild, Tanya Morgan, Hil St Soul, and his family of artists Rahel, Tosin Tao, Tawiah, Joy Silva and Jodi Miliner.

Aproveite
Review by AMG
It's easy to imagine R&B crooner Bobby Valentino stretched out on a crimson, crushed-velvet couch as he delivered his self-titled debut. This pillow-talky album must have been recorded with candles filling the recording studio, but you can bet there was the faint smell of patchouli too. Valentino's first full-length has mystical touches in its overall slick and sexy production, touches that help separate the album from the competition in a way the everyday songwriting doesn't. Pan flutes, atmospheric interludes, and French women cooing sweet nothings flesh out the album, an album that's 99.9 percent "for the ladies," save an appearance from Valentino's main man, Ludacris. As limited as this sounds, Valentino and producers Tim Kelley and Bob Robinson make the album seem a lot more diverse than it really is by alternating the "let's get busy right now" numbers with the "you're very special, let's take this slow" numbers. That otherworldly production helps a lot too, as does Valentino's committed delivery, sounding like he's not at all tired of this sensual material, so why should you be? His Babyface-like voice is above average without a theatrical edge but with a charismatic street swagger and just the right touch of humble joy. As they would say in the tech world, "Slow Down" is the killer app, a single good enough to buy the whole album. Past the single, Bobby Valentino the album doesn't disappoint, but it is a bit frustrating when the smart music and bold "Real R&B Singers Needed" sign point to grander possibilities. Of course, it is a debut and, considering that, pulling a daring punch or two is forgiven. If he keeps on the path of breaking the R&B crooner rule book and really lets his inner maverick out, Valentino will go farther than competition can even imagine.
